Does Charitable Choice 'give back'?
Yes! Our youngest daughter has needed the help of the fantastic team at The Children's Hospital - Westmead. After witnessing their hard work and seeing how much they need additional resources and support, The Charitable Choice will donate 5% of sales of all directory listings sold on the website, each year, to them. What is The Charitable Choice?
The Charitable Choice is an online directory of products and services that give back to a cause. We aim to provide you with information that will help you make charitable purchasing decisions and consume for a cause. Use the easy search functions on the home page and search page to help you find your favourite brands and the causes they are supporting.
What is a Cause?
This site recognises a cause as a charity or non profit organisation. All causes are invited to register their profile detailing their aims and objectives. The profiles all include a website link so you can go direct to their website for more information.
What is a Brand in the context of The Charitable Choice?
All brands, products and services listed on this site give back to a cause. Items can range from fresh food and grocery items through to electrical appliances, pet care, cosmetics, clothing and more. Services constitute insurance and banking services, trade services, business solutions and more.
How do the brands ‘give back’ to a cause?
Corporate Australia gives back in many ways including by donation, pro bono work, workplace giving, sponsorship, volunteering and more.
The brands listed on this site generally have a transactional arrangement in place with a Cause. A Brand can ‘give back’ in a number of ways including: a specific dollar amount per item purchased; a percentage of total profit on a product range; a contribution from the sale of an item to an overall donation. Giving back is not limited to a financial contribution. In some cases, when you purchase a specific item a Brand may provide a gift, in kind support or a contribution of another kind. For example, for every online purchase of X, we will plant a tree through the XYZ program.
How frequently are the products and services updated?
We make every effort to keep the information on this site as up to date as possible. We are always reviewing the details of the directory to ensure you have the most accurate information.
How genuine is the information?
Every effort is made to ensure the pledges detailed on this website are genuine. We are in regular contact with the Causes and Organisations with listings on the site and direct a substantial amount of energy is directed to this area so we may deliver a timely and credible directory.
Who does this site benefit?
There are three key beneficiaries of the site.
As consumers we have a greater social awareness and environmental conscience and this site helps us to feel good about our purchases and allows us to contribute to numerous Causes through our day to day charitable purchases. The Charitable Choice is the only site that collates the information on what products and services ‘give back’. The result is a directory helping us to buy brands that give back.
We connect brands and causes in the one place. This helps to raise awareness of the Cause and highlight the corporate support of their organisation. It also acknowledges the social responsibility of the Brands for their contribution to the Cause.
